Come Let's Dance

Family and Friends,

Last night I went to a fundraiser to hear about the women and children of Nansana Uganda and an organization called "Come Let's Dance". Many of these women and children have lost one or both of their parents, are living in a culture where women are not valued in the same way that we enjoy to a great extent here in America. These girls have no "voice" and they have no voices speaking into their lives reminding them of their value, purpose and beauty.

Deirdre (the person who spoke about "Come Let's Dance" last night) will be primarily training 6 young women to be mentors to more young women; offering encouragement and practical training that will enable them to rise out of their difficult and poverty stricken situations. It would be great if any of my friends would like to donate to this cause. You would be "women helping women"(men also of course can contribute) , when you give to this need. Any little bit is greatly appreciated.

Deirdre needs $1400.00/month for 6 months. You can give directly to her, which I would encourage. Checks can be written to: Come Let's Dance and mailed to them @...

Or if you would prefer I can see if they still have beads or scrapbooks like these available for purchase. The women in this program made these using the materials they had available. The beads look really neat and are made from strips of paper rolled up with some sort of glue. Those I bought for $15. The scrapbooks were made from recycled papers (made themselves) and I bought those for $5. They also had aprons, coin purses and hand bags made with banana leaves and photo packs of the children of Uganda. All of the funds collected from these items also goes straight into the program.

Mini Vacation

We needed a vacation!  We were only able to do a long weekend so we had to stick close by.  We decided on a trip to the Denver Zoo and The Downtown Aquarium.  It was a good choice!  We all enjoyed our time away.

Monster Trucks and Family 2/2013

We went to Monster Jam on a recent trip to see Jordan and our family.  The kids loved it!  It was so so loud but fun to see! Everyone had their own favorite. Everyone went in already wanting to see grave digger, who is very popular but he broke down very early in the show.  Rylee liked the Mohawk truck and I think Kirk and Dylan both liked the dog one the best.  Best of all it was nice to spend family time together! While we were in Salt Lake we spent some time with family!  My aunts and girl cousins all get together for an aunts birthday.  This happened to be one of those gathering times.  so even though it was for a very short time it was good to see them all! Of course no one was looking at me for this photo!!  We also enjoyed time with my brother and his family and Jordan.

Sledding and Snow Play

Since we live in the middle of snow central we have to find ways to make it fun.  But there are dangers as well.  This was Christmas Vacation, it was so cold the whole time and the kids couldn't go outside.  It was usually around 10- during the daytime.  One day it was 20 degrees so I had the kids bundle up and go outside for a bit to play in the snow.   I went outside to give the boys hot chocolate while they were playing and to take their picture when I noticed that Rylee had white circles on his cheeks.  I panicked a little brought them all in, put warm washcloths on his face, and called the nurse line to ask what to do.  They said he had frostbite, stick him in the tub to warm his body and get his circulation flowing, and keep using the warm rags. If his skin turned red he was good, if it stayed white or blistered bring him in!  Thank goodness after awhile his cheeks turned red again!  I have no picture of the white patches on Rylee's che...
