Family and Friends,
Last night I went to a fundraiser to hear about the women and children of Nansana Uganda and an organization called "Come Let's Dance". Many of these women and children have lost one or both of their parents, are living in a culture where women are not valued in the same way that we enjoy to a great extent here in America. These girls have no "voice" and they have no voices speaking into their lives reminding them of their value, purpose and beauty.
Deirdre (the person who spoke about "Come Let's Dance" last night) will be primarily training 6 young women to be mentors to more young women; offering encouragement and practical training that will enable them to rise out of their difficult and poverty stricken situations. It would be great if any of my friends would like to donate to this cause. You would be "women helping women"(men also of course can contribute) , when you give to this need. Any little bit is greatly appreciated.
Deirdre needs $1400.00/month for 6 months. You can give directly to her, which I would encourage. Checks can be written to: Come Let's Dance and mailed to them @...

Or if you would prefer I can see if they still have beads or scrapbooks like these available for purchase. The women in this program made these using the materials they had available. The beads look really neat and are made from strips of paper rolled up with some sort of glue. Those I bought for $15. The scrapbooks were made from recycled papers (made themselves) and I bought those for $5. They also had aprons, coin purses and hand bags made with banana leaves and photo packs of the children of Uganda. All of the funds collected from these items also goes straight into the program.

Thanks for listening!
