August 2011

This summer has been very busy for us.  I just wish we could have had a more exciting summer.  We did do a few things that were worth remembering but most of the "Busy" was work, work, work.  On his days off, Kirk has been painting the house or doing side jobs for some extra cash.  I also have been working extra hours whenever they were available.  One day soon I will be posting pictures of our house showing all the hard work Kirk has put into it!  Here are some pictures of our August. so you can see it wasn't ALL work :)  .... We did get to get in one small camping trip.  We were only there for one night.  Between our work schedules and Rylee getting sick we had to keep it short.  Except for Rylee being sick we did have a good time though.  It was nice to get away and not be stuck in the every day grind.   Plus we had a very pretty spot.  Tons of wildflowers and a nice view of the mountains!

Rylee is 5!!

Rylee is offically a big boy!!  He is now 5 years old!  For his birthday we gave him a party at the bowling alley and he had such a good time.  There was cake and icecream and friends and family there.  He even got to bring home a bowling pin signed by everyone.  Rylee is so proud of being a 5 year old and has to make sure everything he wears and uses is for a 5 size kid!  Happy Birthday Rylee, we love you so much!!  I am excited to see what the next 5 years hold for you.  We are so lucky and happy to have you in our lives.

Baseball 2011

2011 Was Dylan's second year to play baseball for the town of Hayden. They had an exceptional year with only one loss in the whole season including the playoff tournaments!  Here is the link to the article in the local newspaper.  http://www.steamboattoday.com/news/2011/jul/20/hayden-baseball-team-wins-league-title/ Check out this video of Dylan stealing to home...this was his specialty!  The team in their tournament jerseys at their final winning game. They didn't get a trophy but did get these tshirts with a trophy on it.  They did such a great job!!

Just for Kirk

The kids and I decided we were going to make a gift for their dad for Father's Day.  And this is what we came up with!  Each of the kids added their handprint and Rylee and Dylan painted the frame.  Rylee also drew this great picture of his Daddy!  We didn't do much other than that for Father's Day because Kirk was painting the house.  So every spare moment he has goes into painting.  (There will be more pictures on that later!)  For the same reason we didn't do much for Kirk's birthday on July 3rd either.  He was busy painting away.  We did make him a good dinner and some cake though.  Then the next day after he was done painting again, we went to Steamboat to watch their firework show in celebration of the 4th of July.  They put on a pretty exciting show!  It was heart pounding, litteraly.  We were so close to all five areas they had set up to shoot off the fireworks.  By the end of t...

Family Visit

Kirk's Mom and Richard came to visit us for a few days.  We havent seen them for almost a year so it was nice to have them come visit.                            While they were here we took a day to walk around Steamboat Springs for some shopping, lunch and a good walk. Here is Kirk and the kids taking a break.  Grandma snuck in for a picture with them. A bridge in front of Howelson Hill, the smaller skiing mountain in Steamboat. Later on we played some pool at our house.  There was some very creative tricks going on.  We had a lot of fun!  It's always good to have family come see us.  We had a really good time while they were here and hope we can go visit them soon too.

Spring Flooding

Every spring we have runoff from the snow melting in the mountains and usually it results in some flooding but this year we have had an exceptional amount.  Homes have been flooded, roads completely underwater and what used to be feilds of grass and trees now looks like a lake.  Here are a few pictures I have taken of the flooding.  June 1, 2011 Roadway and parking lot of the Steamboat Hotel.  Kirk driving through the flooded parking lot at the Steamboat Hotel. This was June 3rd and as of June 6th there was too much water for him to drive through. This is a picture from up on the Cog in Hayden, CO (where we live) back in 2010.  This is the typical amount that we get during the springtime.  This is when the flooding started getting really bad on June 1st.  (These pics are pretty hazy from the wildfires going on in Arizona) And this picture is from June 6th in the same spot. The rest of pictures are from other people that submitted to ou...

Random from May 2011

May was a busy month for all of us.  Dylan and Rylee had alot of activities going on at school, Dylan started baseball and Kirk and I both were working alot at work and around the house.  Luckily I didn't have to work on Mothers Day and I got to spend the day with my family!  We didn't do anything really exciting but just spending time with  my kids was good enough for me.  Later in the evening Kirk made dinner for me and we ate outside around a campfire.  Rylee graduated from Preschool.  He was so excited and proud!  The teachers held a small graduation ceremony.  They were supposed to have a field trip to the park and have the ceremony there but it was raining.  Here is Rylee getting his diploma... Giving his teacher a good bye hug... Next year he will be in Kindeegarden! In the last week of school the kids had field day.  They had stations put around the school feilds with different activities. This is Dylan a...
